About Last Year

The outskirts of Turin. Celeste, Giorgia and Letizia are three young women as different as they come, but all are linked by a common element: as cisgender women, they are guests in the ballroom scene. A subculture originally born within the African American and Latine LGBTQ community of New York, it is now quite present in Italy as well. It is precisely here that the three women have found a safe space where they can be masters of their own bodies without judgement, prejudices, or provocation. They are about to embark on a journey that will make them grow up and reflect on choices they must make for themselves: while Giorgia is increasingly rooted to her city, Celeste and Letizia are preparing to leave. A year-long coming-of-age story that uncovers dreams, desires, doubts, and the will to fight and to keep on living.

Attenberg

Marina, 23, is growing up with her architect father in a prototype factory town by the sea. Little Wing

For 13-year-old Kaitlyn, her world threatens to collapse when she learns that her parents want to get a divorce, especially because it threatens the loss of the house they shared in Portland, which had always been Kaitlyn's home. The teenage girl has dark thoughts and lost interest in life. The breeding pigeons given to her by her mother's police colleague don't make things any better. What should she do with the birds? Then her best friend Adam gives her an idea: they could steal the very valuable racing pigeon named Granger from the local breeder Jaan Vari, sell it and use the proceeds to pay off the mortgage on her family's home. The plan initially works, but then everything seems to go wrong and Kaitlyn loses her footing even more. But surprisingly, the old man who was robbed takes care of the girl and a bond develops between the two, which ultimately leads her to a new outlook on life.

Night Has Settled

In 1983, Oliver Nicholas, at thirteen, is well-poised to enter the precocious teenage world of first-sex, vodka and possible-love in New York City when he is traumatized by the stroke of his housekeeper (and only true maternal figure), a sixty-five-year-old Chilean woman named Aida. What was supposed to be an exhilarating and somewhat fearful rite of passage - diving into the exciting, fast-paced world of first experiences - quickly becomes skewed by an incomprehensible depression, and a house of interior horrors. Surrounded by women - his untraditional, Spanish, photographer mother (more interested in the role of confidante than mother) his sister, a comedic, door-slamming tormentor, marked by her parent's divorce; and Aida, his silver-haired emotional focal point on the verge of death in Lenox Hill Hospital - Oliver struggles to maintain his role as "man of the house" and his sanity.

It's Raining in the House

Under a scorching sun, seventeen-year-old Purdey and his fifteen-year-old brother Makenzy are left to fend for themselves. While Purdey cleans houses in a hotel complex, Makenzy makes some money by stealing tourists. Between the recklessness of adolescence and the harshness of adulthood, they will have to support each other in this heartbreakingly sweet journey, which seems to be the last summer of their youth.
